BALGRAN is a non-profit, non-government, voluantary organization, committed to the care of children. The aim & objective of the BALGRAN is to provide family home to destitute, orphaned, neglected, socially handicapped children by giving them a family, home and strong foundation for an independent and secure life. Balgran, a local dialect Dogri word, means "childrens' village". Balgran previously known as SOS Children's Village Association (Balgran) was established in the year 1975. Since then it has expanded its services for children in need at rapid pace. This organization is registered with "Registrar of Societies" J&K State, Jammu under order No.279-S of 1975 & Re- registered vide no. Dirc/JRS/279/200 Dt. 3-11-2014 with the new name.

- Prof. Manoj Dhar, V.C, University of Jammu, visited Balgran on 17th of April 2019 on the occasion of annual day function of the Bal Bharti School as chief guest.
- Sh. S.D Swantatra, Former PCCF, visited the Balgran in connection with Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.
- Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble Mayor JMC, visited Balgran.
- DFO Urban Forestry conducted plantation drive in Balgran along with his Team.
- 'Service before self' Vijay Divas to remember the martyrs was celebrated in Balgran.
- Sh. Kavinder Gupta former speaker & Dy. CM, J&K, visited Balgran to celebrate birthday of Sh. Narinder Modi, Prime Minister of India.
- Director General, Dep’t. Social Welfare, visited Balgran for inspection before sanctioning Grant in aid.
- Sh. VIkram Randhawa, Ex- MLC, visited Balgran to celebrate birth day of his father Ch. Piara Singh, Ex- MLA, J&K assembly.
- Sh. H.L Dogra, Principal MV International Public School, Vijaypur, visited Balgran & interacted with the students & delivered a lecture on stress management.
- Dr. Sudarshan Sharma, Former Director General & Secretary DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, visited Balgran.
- Mr. Parshotam Kachroo & Sheelu Kachroo from USA visited Balgran to interact with the inmates & students of Bal Bharti Public School.
- 44th Foundation day of Balgran was celebrated on 3rd of September. A good number of Ex. Inmates participated in the function. Mr. Farooq Khan, Advisor to the Lt. Governor, J&K, was the Chief Guest. It was on this day in 1975 the home was founded by Mrs. Mekhala Jha, First Lady.
- Independence day was celebrated and flag hoisting was done by Mrs. Sadhana Kachru, our member and esteemed donor of Balgran.
- Republic day was celebrated and flag hoisting was done by Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta,Mayor, Jammu City.
